This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the physical design of Rivian’s electric vehicle systems! We’re looking for a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, CAD based Mechanical Design Engineer to help us design and develop Exterior components on current and future Rivian models.

• Design & Develop Exterior Components including, but not limited to Fascia’s, FEM, Claddings, Pillar Trims, badges etc.
• Use first principle driven design direction in order to develop components that is best for the product
• Work with cross functional teams to develop high quality design that meets requirements of the system as a whole
• Work with the studio team to provide feedback and generate high quality A-surfaces that meet all DFM requirements while keeping with the theme of the vehicle
• Come up with different CAD concepts for issues, detailed 2D sections and concept 3D CAD during initial development
• Mentor younger and less experienced Design Engineers
• Have good grasp of mass/cost/time etc. and proactively communicate issues to all other stakeholders

• 4+ Years experience of parametric CAD in Exterior Automotive trim systems (Catia Preferred)
• 4+ years of experience with various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, compression molding, 2-shot molding, overholding etc.
• 4+ Years of design experience with Injected molding plastics A Class components and B side bracketry
• 2+ years of experiences with Castings, Extrusions, and forgings.
• Applied experience in the automotive design and development process, system requirements, and engineering best practices.
• Have deep knowledge of different materials used for different applications
• High level of expertise and proficiency with Catia, Enovia, or similar tools including drawing and modelling practices and methodologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications and other information management tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Certificate of Accomplishment from a recognized Design educational institution, or equivalent skills and expertise.
• An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team.
• A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement.

Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $107,800-$134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
