Position: Firefighter/Paramedic
Benton County Fire District 4 (BCFD#4) is currently seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic (Entry Level or Lateral).
Position Overview
BCFD#4 provides fire protection and emergency services to the City of West Richland and surrounding areas, covering 52 square miles. Established in 1954, the district handles approximately 2,000 calls annually, including:
Structure fires
Wildland fires
Emergency medical calls
Vehicle accidents
Water rescues
Hazardous materials incidents
The district also provides EMS transport services under a permanent EMS levy passed in 2016.
The department operates with a combination staff of 25 career personnel and approximately 35 volunteers, including interns and live-in residents. Specialized teams include:
Technical Rescue Team
Regional Incident Management Team (Type III)
Swift Water Rescue Team
Compensation and Incentives
Salary:
Entry Level Firefighter: $66,922 annually plus incentives
Lateral Entry Firefighter: $75,287 annually plus incentives
Incentives:
Paramedic Certification: $8,365 annually
Education Pay:
Associate Degree: 5% of base pay
Bachelor's Degree: 10% of base pay
Specialized Certifications: Additional pay for NFPA/IFSAC certifications (Rope, Confined Space, Vehicle Rescue, Trench Rescue, Swiftwater, HazMat)
