Pearl Stamps Steward Professorship in Surgery INTERNAL RECRUITMENT ONLY

Position Overview:
INTERNAL RECRUITMENT TO UC DAVIS ONLY. The Pearl Stamps Steward Professorship in Surgery provides additional funding to a current UC Davis academic appointee in the Clinical Surgery or In-Residence series. The additional funding may support the endowed professor holder in areas of teaching, research, and service directly related to the purpose of the endowment.

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit and fill the Pearl Stamps Steward Professorship in Lymphedema Surgery. This is an internal recruitment. The selected candidate must currently hold an active academic appointment in the Clinical X or In-Residence series at the UC Davis School of Medicine.

The holder of the Pearl Stamps Stewart Professor in Lymphedema Surgery will be a faculty member in the School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, whose specialty is in the area of lymphedema research.

The initial term of the Pearl Stamps Stewart Professor in Lymphedema Surgery is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191).

The endowment pay-out will support the professor's efforts in research, teaching, and service and further the mission of School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and the campus.

It is expected that the holder of the endowed professorship will advance appropriately through the faculty ranks on the basis of his/her scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service.

Responsibilities of the Endowed Professor:

• The Professorship holder shall be engaged in edema research with the intent to seek palliation and /or cure of the condition known as lymphedema through whatever clinical, research and or other activities deemed most appropriate.
  
• Collaborate with other investigators in similar and complementary interests at UC Davis.
  
• Provide leadership in focusing and strengthening the lymphedema program of the Department of Surgery.
  
• Participate as a mentor and a guide to other faculty and students pursuing lymphedema research in the Department of Surgery.
  
• Participate in the research training of graduate students and surgical residents to the description field.
