About the Role :
We’re hiring one in-person tutor to provide small-group ELA instruction to 5th-grade students at PS 161 The Arthur Ashe Jr. School . The tutor will work closely with students and teachers during school hours, reinforcing literacy skills, strengthening reading comprehension, and fostering academic confidence in an engaging and supportive environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide small-group ELA instruction to 5th-grade students.
• Support students in developing reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills .
• Work alongside teachers to enhance classroom instruction and tailor support to individual student needs.
• Foster a positive and structured learning environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
• Adapt to different learning styles and provide targeted interventions as needed.

Schedule:

• Days: Monday – Friday
• Time: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Duration: March 10, 2025 – April 11, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Dates Off:
  • March 6 – Elementary and K-8 Parent-Teacher Conferences 
  • March 31 – Eid al-Fitr

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior tutoring or teaching experience in ELA at the elementary level.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong understanding of 5th-grade ELA concepts and literacy instruction.
• Engagement Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate students in a supportive learning environment.
• Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with teachers and school staff to align instruction with classroom goals.
• Adaptability: Capable of adjusting teaching strategies based on student needs.
• Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the program.
