Job Description

As a Shift Lead , you will take on a leadership role, managing and overseeing the daily operations of the facility during your shift. You will supervise Pet Attendant(s), ensuring they are providing excellent care and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility. This position involves both hands-on animal care and leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for individuals looking to take the next step in their career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and manage the Pet Attendant team, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to company procedures.
  • Animal Care: Oversee pet care duties, including feeding, administering medications, and monitoring health and behavior.
  • Shift Management: Ensure that the daily operations of the facility run smoothly, including check-ins, check-outs, and playtime activities.
  • Training & Support: Train new employees, provide feedback, and help team members improve their performance.
  • Customer Interaction: Handle any customer inquiries or concerns during your shift, ensuring pet owners have a positive experience.
  • Safety Protocols: Ensure that all safety protocols and emergency procedures are followed, and act as the first point of contact in case of an emergency.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure that cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standard during your shift.

Potential Job Hazards:

  • Loud Noises (Barking): High levels of noise from barking dogs and other animals may occur.
  • Exposure to Allergens & Pet Dander: Ongoing exposure to allergens and pet dander.
  • Contact with Cleaning Chemicals: Frequent contact with cleaning chemicals. PPE is required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a pet care environment, including daycare, boarding, grooming, or veterinary settings.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members and pet owners.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle physical tasks.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
